The total population of the Punjab is round 90.00 million (40% urban and 60% rural). Based on various surveys (Economics Surveys, MICS, NIPS, etc) the poverty level categorized as poor to extremely 22.30% of the total population in the Punjab.

The Target Demographic
The food stamp scheme is a targeted subsidy aimed at the following

• Households that do not have a bread-earned
• Widows, orphans, and the destitute
• Chronically sick and/or disabled persons
• Elderly person who have been abandoned by their family
• The poorest of the poor segments of the society with marginal income

Salient Features of the Schemes

• The total amount of subsidy in the schemes is Rs. 21.60 billions (@Rs. 1080 billions per month) for 1.8 million families:
• The scheme is covering both, Rural and urban areas
• Rupees one thousand(1000) per month per household in being provided
• It is being provided to only one member of a family based on family# of CNIC
• Food subsidy is being provided in cash through money orders in monthly installments at the door step of the beneficiaries with the assistance of the Pakistan Post Office. Pakistan Post Office will be responsible in case of grievances regarding any mal-practice/fraud/ in delivery of the cash subsidy to the poor.
• Identification of beneficiaries by Public Representatives/MPAs
• DCOs to verify the antecedents of the beneficiaries
• Online data entry by DCOs in a centralized through a web portal
• Submission of Data of verified beneficiaries along with funds to the Pakistan Post
• Money Orders Delivery by Pakistan Post within three weeks
• Feed back from Pakistan post for delivered and undelivered MOs
• Uploading of data provided by Pakistan post on online web portal
• Re-verification /editing by DCOs
